We’re committed to loving and serving our community, locally and globally. Here are some of the ways we are invested in serving our local community.
Community Care
Every Thursday we provide a food relief and community support service from 12:00-1.30pm. Food assistance in the form of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, milk, meat and pantry staples are available for those who need it. People are welcome to arrive from 11.45am and have a cuppa. Our Op Shop, is open during this time for people to access a range of good quality second hand clothing and household items. To be eligible for this service you need to have a one-off interview, hold a current Centrelink concession card, or be in a position requiring urgent assistance.
Our food is sourced from varied suppliers; such as Food Bank Tasmania, Fusion, Woolworths and Banjos. Community Care is a volunteer-based organisation, and a registered ‘not for profit’, supporting southern Tasmanian families weekly.
If you would like more information, want to support, or are interested in volunteering, please email us at – communitycare@kfc.church or phone our church office on 6229 2196

Community Projects
We believe we are here to serve our community. Each year we aim to complete a project in our local community that serves and impacts those living and working around us. It’s all hands on deck and everyone can find a task to contribute that suits their skills and abilities, and together, over the course of a weekend, we complete a project that impacts our community.
Community projects have been completed at Blackman’s Bay Primary School, Kingston Fire Station, Kingston Police Station and Boronia Girl Guide Hall.

Gingerbread Houses
A KFC favourite, every year we open the church for a day of gingerbread house building and decorating. The event is well attended by members of our congregation and community, with the coffee cart supplying the needed caffine and the lollies providing the sugar hit. There is connection and laughter during the two sessions; one for families and the evening session for ladies.

Carols on the Carpet
We start the festive season with our annual Carols on the Carpet. A community barbeque with kids activies preceeds a time of carols singing and usually a few surprises from our creative team.

Compassion
“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone” is the mandate given to us. We strive to serve our global community in a numver of ways.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, offers a hands-on way to bless children in need around the world. By filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts, we can bring joy and hope to children living in vulnerable situations. Samaritan’s Purse collects and distributes these boxes in the name of Jesus Christ.
Each year, we come together to pack as many shoeboxes as we can. It’s a wonderful time of connection, laughter, and serving others.
We also serve as a collection point for anyone who wants to pack a shoebox and drop it off, helping to prepare it for the next step of its journey.
Hope Village
Each year a dedicated team travels to Hope Village in Indonesia to serve the local community. This is an opportunity to support the staff and students at the Hope Village orphanage and school through building projects, leading devotions, cooking meals, and growing in our own faith. We focus on meeting the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of the children living at Hope Village and the Kindergarten to Year 12 students who attend the onsite school.
Anyone who has been will tell you that it’s a life-changing experience.
For those who can’t travel, there are still ways to partner—through prayer, financial support, and donating practical items or gifts for the team to take to Hope Village.
Empart
Empart is dedicated to empowering and partnering with communities through a range of social development programs. Their work includes equipping leaders, empowering women, nurturing children, and running initiatives that restore health, improve livelihoods, and provide emergency responses.
At Kingborough Family Church, we are proud to actively support Empart through financial giving and prayer, partnering with them in their mission to bring lasting transformation to communities in need. We currently support 5 Empart local heroes who are on the ground working to bring holistic change to individuals and communities.
Compassion
Compassion Australia is a Christian ministry dedicated to releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Through child sponsorship, Compassion provides education, healthcare, and spiritual support to children in need, empowering them to thrive.
At Kingborough Family Church, we have been partnering with Compassion since 2015. Through the generous support of our congregation, we’ve sponsored over 82 children across 18 countries. We’ve also seen 20 students graduate from tertiary education. Currently, we are sponsoring over 40 children, continuing to provide practical care and share God’s love in tangible ways.
If you’re interested in learning more or want to get involved in sponsoring a child, we’d love to connect with you. Visit the Hub on Sunday or email office@kfc.church for more information.
